๐ Share this article Diving into a Unusual Steam Demo: Playing as a Turdy Character with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have encountered plenty of entertaining independent titles. Yet, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop striving to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop." The gameplay is simple: press a one button to leap. Throughout 150 stages, encounter boss fights and visit a shop to buy outfits for your dung hero. Execute your actions with caution, as a mistake forces restarting the level. Leap using floating orbs to launch yourself higher, navigate disappearing platforms, and interact with triggers to unlock new areas. Gather currency and use them on challenging stages in which gameplay intensifies. Graphically, the demo features vibrant stages and catchy background music. The retro graphics of shifting geometric shapes may remind gamers of classic titles like Earthbound. Even though difficult to recall previous releases where you play as a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often featured fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. Naturally, fecal references is present extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth. Putting aside its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already received significant accolades, such as winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the full game set to arrive on computers this November.
