The carrier is introducing free high-speed onboard wifi via space-based deal

Flyers flying with the airline will soon use fast wifi during flights without charge due to a new agreement with the billionaire's space company.

No-cost and Fast Wifi Across the Board

The airline revealed that the complimentary, “quick and reliable” connectivity service through the satellite provider is set to be offered for customers flying economy, business, and first class starting soon.

Expanded Rollout Across Various Flight Operators

The umbrella firm for the airline, IAG, announced it had secured an agreement involving Starlink to offer wifi coverage on more than 500 planes across their carriers, such as Aer Lingus, Iberia, plus Vueling.

Seamless Internet from Boarding through Landing

The airline explained that the implementation for this system formed part of a seven billion pound “transformation” program and would offer smooth connectivity coverage to flyers starting at the gate to arrival, also when in flight above large bodies of water and isolated areas.

Travelers will be able to link multiple devices and won't need to have to use a special login.

“Gamechanging for the airline and our customers, enhancing the journey onboard our flights by giving them continuous wifi from start to finish.”

Present Wifi Offerings

Restricted wifi access is currently offered for British Airways flyers on the majority of their jets using its .air platform.

Enrollees of BA’s loyalty club are able to send texts and text-only messages onboard at no cost, whereas travelers looking to access audio, video, and content on their travel if not travelling in premium cabins can expect to be charged between four pounds ninety-nine to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine per internet package.

The Satellite System

Starlink maintains a network of many thousands with orbiting devices and is managed by Elon Musk’s aerospace firm.

Ongoing Upgrades for British Airways

The airline's management have been focusing to revitalize British Airways again following a long time of budget reductions, system failures, industrial action, and mass redundancies.

The airline explained that implementation with smart technology had helped the airline to bring their punctuality to peak performance from over a decade ago.

Financial Outlook

In August, British Airways disclosed a jump in earnings during the first half recently, contributing to IAG’s profit higher.

International Airlines Group is set to report its earnings for the three months from July to September shortly.

Other Starlink Deals

The airline's announcement comes days following mobile phone carrier Virgin Media O2 announced it was teaming up alongside Starlink to enhance mobile network service in rural parts in Britain, letting users to automatically link phones via space-based systems in the absence of regular network coverage can be found.
